Students! You want $10,000?

Here it is, folks! Our first contest of 2011. We give you the United Way Loaned Representative Essay Contest.

We’re looking for post-secondary students who feel the heat of looming tuition payments and would like to find a way to pay some of those bills in a way that doesn’t involve the removal of organs or the testing of medication.

In a nutshell:

  • Answer the question “What does United Way mean to you?” in 500-1,000 words.

  • Submit your essay here.

  • Wait.

  • If your essay is selected, you’ve earned yourself a $10,000 sponsored internship with United Way from Aug. 29 – Dec. 9, 2011.

Seems simple, right? We had two winners last year - Gina Slocuk (see her in the video below) and Samuel Baron – who not only submitted fantastic pieces but also did amazing work as Loaned Representatives.

This is a legitimate opportunity to help your community, enhance a lot of personal and professional skills, develop your network and earn some money in the process.

For more information about the experience watch the video below and make sure you read up on the internship by looking at the Loaned Representative area of our website.

Happy writing!
