Every year, through the generosity of United Way’s donors, thousands of lives are changed in our community. By making a gift this year, your donation could be matched – doubling your impact in the community.

Thanks to the support of an incredible anonymous donor to our local United Way, donors who give between $10,000-$25,000 may qualify to have their gift matched.

Change More Lives Than You Can Imagine

Imagine being able to double your impact and what it would mean to local families and individuals struggling in poverty.

Instead of just trying to survive, they’ll have a chance to develop the skills and abilities that lead to lives of independence. Parents will get help to support their children in the early development years. And kids will go to school with food in their stomachs, get support from mentors and can focus on achieving their full potential.

Through support from our community, and the significant impact of major donors, United Way is focused on getting results that go beyond managing the symptoms of poverty and work toward ending it

Making The Match

Who is eligible?

New donors, or donors increasing their gift, within the range of $10,000 to $25,000 will have their gift, or increase, matched dollar-for-dollar in 2016.

Already a United Way donor?

If you choose to increase your gift, the value of that increase will be matched, up to a maximum of $25,000. For example, if you gave $8,000 in 2015, and lift your gift to $12,000 in 2016, $4,000 will be matched.

What types of gifts are eligible?

Gifts of cash, securities or stocks valued between $10,000 and $25,000.

Do donation pledges count?

No, pledges do not count. This match will apply to the amount of actual funds received by December 31, 2016.

Do designations to another registered charity qualify?

Designations do not qualify for the match, based on parameters set by the funder of this grant. As such, only the portion of the gift provided towards United Way’s impact agenda can be matched. For example, if a donor gives $15,000, but designates $3,000 of this amount to another registered charity, only the $12,000 that is undesignated will qualify for the match.

Focus on Strategies & Results

All match funds will focus on strategies for:

  • early childhood development and ensuring children succeed through their school years;
  • helping individuals and families access subsidy programs and improve money management skills; and
  • helping people build job skills and take advantage of employment opportunities.

Achieving strategies and targets in these areas means helping 16,000 more people in our community.

Timing To Match

This program has the potential to see up to $250,000 matched and focused on changing lives locally.

The match is capped at $250,000, so the earlier your donation is made, the better chance you have to maximize the match and potentially double your impact in our community.
