Tools For School

Tools for School is an annual United Way initiative which encourages members of the Alberta Capital Region to donate school supplies to grade school students with limited resources. Tools for School is a model of innovative partnerships and cooperation, bringing together community agencies, educational institutions, corporate supporters, the general public and the media for the purpose of a common goal – to donate school supplies to children in need, thereby reducing the barriers for children to be successful in school.
In 2009, supplies for more than 8,300 students were collected and distributed to Alberta Capital Region schools.
How You Can Contribute
- When purchasing supplies for your children, buy an extra pack for a child less fortunate. The items can be donated at any participating Tools for School drop-off location. Check out the toolbox ideas below or download our Complete Supply List.

- Make a contribution to the program - Dollars donated to the Tools for School program are used to purchase school board approved school supplies when the need is not met through product donations. Cheques made payable to ‘Tools for School’ C/O The InKind Centre can be dropped off at or mailed to: The InKind Centre, United Way of the Alberta Capital Region 16821-113 Avenue Edmonton, AB T5M 2X2
