It's that time of year when United Way searches for talented, passionate, and community-minded individuals to join our Sponsored Campaign Representative Program (SCR). Not only is this SCR role unique and full of fun, it provides participants with valuable skills and knowledge about how they can make a difference in our community. In fact, most participants will tell you that this role changed their life.
SCRs come from a variety of places - they could be co-op students, university grads, as well as seconded working professionals. Thanks to all the amazing sponsors who support this incredible program, either through monetary support or by seconding an employee, United Way is able to expand its reach in the community. This addition of SCRs allows United Way to double its Resource Development team on a temporary basis and strengthen support for the more than 400 workplace campaigns in the Alberta Capital Region.
The 2012 team was an eclectic group of people from diverse backgrounds. The group included: the mother of a 19 month old boy who were new to Edmonton, a youth worker, a co-op student, a recent U of L grad from Calgary, and graduates from the University of Alberta. Seconded employees from community-minded organizations like Worley Parsons, Atco Gas, TD Bank, Imperial Oil, CN and Enbridge Pipelines also joined the program.
Many SCRs choose to return year after year because they gain so much from this 15-week experience: learning about our community, leadership skills, public speaking, and new organizational skills. And, they build friendships that will last a life-time.
I am so excited to see what the 2013 team will accomplish and can't wait to get started. We are currently accepting applications for the 2013 Sponsored Campaign Representative Program. If you are interested in applying to this program, please CLICK HERE.

Lesley Mutschke, Campaign Manager, has the absolute pleasure of running the recruitment program for the Sponsored Campaign Representatives, which is just one of the many wonderful parts of her job. (her words, not ours)
