A Friendly Competition Promotes Caring Collaboration
The Annual Engineering Challenge, in partnership with United Way, brings together the engineering community to challenge each other to strengthen communities across the Alberta Capital Region.
While the Engineering Challenge promotes friendly competition and fosters sharing and advancement of best practices for each company’s campaigns, its primary focus is to collectively make a significant impact in our community by undertaking a community project; which is how the Engineering Challenge Day of Caring came to life.
In the Fall of 2018, with the collaborative effort from 14 engineering firms in the city, the Engineering Challenge Day of Caring completed their 12th annual community project.
Working with YESS (Youth Empowerment and Support Services), our extraordinary group of 50 volunteers completed renovation projects that rejuvenated the property and created new spaces for the youth to enjoy.
Re-shingling a garage roof
Adding siding to a shed
Building a new outdoor kitchenette space and BBQ
Replacing indoor flooring in the emergency overnight dormitory
Building a new gazebo with benches
The Engineering Challenge Day of Caring was a success thanks to volunteers like these; dedicating their skills, time, and hearts into the project each year. This year’s project impacted hundreds of youth who use the facilities and services at YESS.
THANK YOU to all the volunteers working together, year after year, to complete meaningful projects for United Way partner agencies.
