Manager, Senior Volunteer Engagement

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

As part of our energetic Resource Development team, you would be reporting to our fun and collaborative Vice President, Development and Donor Relations. You will make a difference by using your creativity to develop and manage an engagement plan for our team (of about 50) senior level executives who are volunteers on our Campaign Cabinet and the co-chairs and shape how we provide an exceptional experience for these incredibly generous members of our business community.  You would also be making a difference and be right in the thick of things by providing exceptional support to the Vice President, Development and Donor Relations and basically be her “right-hand person” (or left hand as the case may be!)  This would also mean you would have to have a very high degree of integrity and professionalism and understand the importance of confidentiality as you would be a trusted confidant of the Vice President. 

As part of working with the Campaign Cabinet, you will be identifying and cultivating new senior volunteer engagement opportunities, recruiting cabinet members, developing on-boarding materials, planning and overseeing logistics of cabinet meetings, developing relationships with cabinet members, and helping with managing key relationships.   You will be aligned with our mission and contribute to increasing our visibility in the community by identifying, scheduling, and mobilizing cabinet team members to represent United Way at community events.  In addition, you will manage co-chair calendars and event commitments, lead all co-chair and the VP’s communications, including crafting messages, managing multiple inboxes, providing social media guidance and content. This role also includes typing meeting minutes. 

Another important part of the role is managing all aspects of our Sponsored Campaign Representative mentorship program including working directly with cabinet members that recruit cabinet mentors, securing workshop consultants, scheduling, and creating supporting materials. 

 

Qualifications:

About you: 

It’s important to us that you understand the value of relationships and how to cultivate them and have project management and administrative skills. You have a knowledge of volunteer engagement strategies, an interest in fund development practices, and a proven ability to build authentic relationships including influencing, educating and guiding conversations and decisions.  You are a natural with technology and proficient with MS Office (we use Office 365), you have at least an intermediate level  of MS PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams, and have basic CRM systems experience (we use a database called Andar) and basic knowledge of social media platforms. You can work with and analyze numbers.  You are also comfortable with administrative tasks including managing calendars and external commitments, preparing communications, speaking notes, agendas and materials, which may include drafting business cases, preparing strategic planning documents and materials for the Vice President you would be supporting. 

You will be a master when it comes to planning and organizing and have amazing writing and speaking skills being that communication is so important in this role.  You are resilient and agile and are very comfortable with working in a dynamic environment.  Your background includes a degree or diploma in business administration, communications, social sciences, or a related area plus five years of related experience.  If you have other equivalent experience, we will also consider that.   

A valid driver’s license and vehicle are required as travel is involved within Edmonton and surrounding area. Ideally, you’d have flexibility to work some evenings and weekends depending on the events and meetings that are going on.
