Manager, Business Development 

As part of our energetic Resource Development team, you would be reporting to our fun and collaborative Vice President, Development and Donor Relations. You will make a difference by managing the development, implementation, measurement and reporting of business development strategies across multiple departments. You will provide leadership to external volunteer teams and internal teams to support and grow new, undeveloped, or underdeveloped business opportunities. This will involve identifying, researching, approaching and acquiring supporters, including corporate accounts, sponsors and investment partners. Basically, this is about building meaningful relationships with people.

About you:

It’s important to us that you will have previous sales/marketing experience, and research and project management skills. You have a knowledge of business development strategies in acquiring and developing new business, and a proven ability to build relationships including influencing, educating and guiding conversations and decisions. You have strong presentation skills, can work with and analyze numbers and are able to lead people and senior volunteers. You are really good with MS Office (we use Office 365) and have CRM systems experience (we use a database called Andar). You will have fantastic writing and speaking skills being that this position involves so much communicating. Your background includes a degree or diploma in a related area plus five years in a similar position. If you have other equivalent experience, we will also consider that. Knowledge of community investment and corporate social responsibility is an asset. A valid driver’s license and vehicle are required as travel is involved within Edmonton and surrounding area. With the type of work this is, ideally you’d have flexibility to work some evenings and weekends depending on the events and meetings that are going on.

Campaign Representative

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to support our mission of creating pathways out of poverty for individuals and families in Edmonton and area by providing support to United Way workplace campaigns.

In this role you will inspire, coach, assist and support workplace representatives and volunteers in fundraising activities.  You will present United Way’s message to groups, coordinate and deliver resource materials, monitor campaign activities, collect donations and pledges and provide recommendations to maximize fundraising results.

Qualifications include experience or education in the business, public services or human services sector. You are energetic, flexible, organized, and open to public speaking and enjoy working with people.  Basic Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills are essential and experience working with a customized database is preferred.  A valid driver’s license and vehicle are required as travel is involved in Edmonton and surrounding areas. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds is also necessary to transport campaign and related event materials throughout Edmonton.

Program Assistant, Community Engagement

You have administrative experience and are interested in social change.  You will support our community engagement programs that contribute to addressing and reducing poverty within Edmonton and area.

Reporting to the Director, Engaging Marketing, this role coordinates our Community Impact Speaker booking process for annual United Way workplace campaigns.  You will provide administrative support by managing a large volume of speaker requests, coordinate speaker presentation schedules, track presentation activities and record reporting data by creating and maintaining spreadsheets and/or entering request statistics into a customized database. You will also provide event support as required.

Minimum qualifications include one year of administrative experience and basic MS Office skills.  A basic knowledge of databases, SharePoint, MS Teams and survey software tools is an asset.  You are energetic, highly organized, detail focused, and can prioritize your workload and multitask in an extremely busy environment.  You also have the ability to collaborate professionally with internal and external representatives and prepare well written e-mail correspondence.
