What this position is about:
This position involves conducting web based and other research to collect, compile and report on businesses and organizations with the potential to join United Way and other workplaces to create pathways out of poverty in the Alberta Capital Region. Working with our Resource Development team, through your research work, you will help prepare business profiles, identify leads and prospects, and assess and evaluate community investment alignment. Your work will include preparing meeting support materials and supporting special projects.
What we are looking for:
You have a minimum of one year related post-secondary education, experience conducting research and assembling data and strong Microsoft Office skills. Bonus if you have experience using Office 365 programs and apps. Business writing as well as report writing skills are also required. An understanding of social issues and knowledge of the local business community is preferred.
This temporary full time position commences in May and is scheduled to wind up by the end of August, with potential for this temporary role to be extended into a part time position after that.
This position is funded through the STEP (Summer Temporary Employment Program).
Some of the requirements of this program include that you are:
· At least 15 years old
· A Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or protected person under the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and legally entitled to work and study in Canada
· Currently residing or attend school in Alberta with an Alberta address
· Returning to high school or a post-secondary institution no later than November 1st (2019)
· Enrolled in a program that will result in a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree
· Available for full-time summer employment
