Give children the resources they need to thrive

When children and teens feel safe, cared for, and encouraged, they have greater confidence and resilience, and more energy to focus on school. Providing support and guidance for youth from Kindergarten to Grade 12 can help them develop a sense of belonging in class and at home so they can reach their full potential.

More than ever, youth in the Edmonton region are facing socioeconomic challenges and a lack of access to basic needs. Last year, All in for Youth provided:

  • 226,324 meals and 161,133 snacks
  • 1,794 hours of Out-of-School Time support
  • Mental health therapy for 256 students
  • 2,195 short-term engagements for success coaching

Your support can help youth in your community succeed

A high school diploma is required for most jobs and higher education. Students who don’t graduate often enter adulthood at a disadvantage and may find themselves facing economic instability or poverty.

Through the collaboration of 10 local partners including United Way, All in for Youth (AIFY) focuses on increasing high school completion rates by offering wraparound supports for students and their families. This can make the difference between a child who graduates and one who doesn’t.

AIFY brings together local services in eight city-centre schools to help address the complex and intersecting needs facing low-income children and families.

“The more support our young people have and the more they are surrounded by a team of caring adults, their chances of success increases.”

– AIFY School Principal

“At a time when I felt like my life was coming to an end and that everything was falling apart around me, All in for Youth showed me that it was just the beginning. ”

– Emily, All in for Youth Alumna

United Way’s Commitment to Reconciliation

We are all Treaty people. United Way acknowledges our connection to one another, here on Treaty 6 Territory and Métis Nation of Alberta Region #4. The diverse Indigenous Peoples of this land include the nêhiyawak, Blackfoot, Dene, Anishinaabe, Nakota Sioux, Inuit, and Métis. Many of our staff are settlers living and working in this Territory. We all have a responsibility to uphold the spirit and intent of the original treaties and build relationships, trust, and understanding. We are grateful for the resources, knowledge, and culture Indigenous people share with us as we walk the path towards reconciliation together. We honour and respect Indigenous contributions supporting our work to ensure no one in our community is left behind.
