United Way of the Alberta Capital Region Sharing Cafe

June 11 @ 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Here’s What We’re Serving Up at Sharing Cafes

We have found the sharing cafes one of the best formats to generate new ideas for our annual campaign. Although we have run a campaign for decades it is helpful to keep apprised of strategies that work. I find it particularly valuable to hear from people outside of my sector as I don’t naturally have a chance to connect with them.

– Pauline Smale, CEO, The Family Centre

Join a group of current and previous campaign volunteers to chat and ideate about running workplace campaigns!

United Way Sharing Cafés are a chance for you to learn with your peers from across the region about running workplace campaigns. Connect directly with other campaign volunteers to share best practices, generate new and innovative campaign ideas, and network with others who are passionate about making a difference in our communities.

We welcome volunteers from any sector and any level of volunteer experience to join us. This is a perfect opportunity for new volunteers to glean knowledge from past/returning volunteers that will generously share their wisdom and learnings from past experiences.

Agenda

12:30PM to 1:00PM: Registration, networking and grab a snack!

1:00PM to 2:10PM: Engagement Activity and Funded Partner Panel Discussion

2:10-3:30PM: Breakout Conversations and Group Discussions

Breakout conversations will give you the chance to connect with fellow volunteers and discuss the dos and don’ts of running a successful campaign. You’ll explore how to build education into your campaign and discover the benefits of incorporating engagement activities to boost participation and impact.

During the Engagement Activity portion, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in a pre-planned activity. This hands-on experience will give you a clear understanding of what it’s like to organize an engagement activity for your team.

There will also be an early access signup available for attendees to book 1-on-1 mentorship meetings with some of committee members of our most successful campaigns.

We currently have two available Sharing Café dates. The same topics will be discussed at both, however, due to the nature of sharing cafes, participants are more than welcome to attend both as different workplaces will be sharing at each Sharing Café!

United Way’s Commitment to Reconciliation

We are all Treaty people. United Way acknowledges our connection to one another, here on Treaty 6 Territory and Métis Nation of Alberta North Saskatchewan River Territory. The diverse Indigenous Peoples of this land include the nêhiyawak, Blackfoot, Dene, Anishinaabe, Nakota Sioux, Inuit, and Métis. Many of our staff are settlers living and working in this Territory. We all have a responsibility to uphold the spirit and intent of the original treaties and build relationships, trust, and understanding. We are grateful for the resources, knowledge, and culture Indigenous people share with us as we walk the path towards reconciliation together. We honour and respect Indigenous contributions supporting our work to ensure no one in our community is left behind.
