How to Donate Securities
Donating publicly listed securities to charity is the most cost-effective way to give back. When you gift securities to United Way, the taxable capital gain is completely eliminated!

Download, complete, and send the Securities Transfer Form to United Way of the Alberta Capital Region and contact us to let us know to expect your donation.*

Instruct your broker or bank to transfer your securities to United Way’s brokerage account.

Once the transfer is complete, we will contact you with the receipt value of your gift.

*Please note that this form is for United Way’s records only and does not initiate transfer of securities.
You will receive a tax receipt for the full market value of the security in the amount of the closing trading price on the day United Way receives the security. Due to the administrative costs associated with processing this type of donation, United Way welcomes gifts of securities with a value of $1,000 or more.
