How United Way Helps

Nearly 1 in 5 students in Edmonton don’t finish high school on time. That’s thousands of young people whose futures are at risk.

When you support United Way, you remove the barriers that hold students back — whether it’s lack of mentorship, struggling with mental health, or families navigating the system alone. Your support means more kids get the guidance, confidence, and connections they need to stay in school and build better lives.

Our Impact

In 2023, 48,601 people accessed educational supports through United Way programs and funding, including:

  • 8,059 children and caregivers received early learning and parenting supports.
  • 35,013 students participated in healthy development programs.
  • 4,543 children participated in after-school programs to support social development.
  • 986 students received support to stay in school.
  • 82% of surveyed children and youth accessing supports demonstrated improved developmental skills.89% of caregivers accessing supports reported that they were better able to support the healthy development of their children.
