How United Way Helps

Nearly 1 in 5 students in Edmonton don’t finish high school on time. That’s thousands of young people whose futures are at risk.

When you support United Way, you remove the barriers that hold students back — whether it’s lack of mentorship, struggling with mental health, or families navigating the system alone. 

Your support means more kids get the guidance, confidence, and connections they need to stay in school and build better lives.

Our Impact

In 2024:

  • 60,415 people removed barriers to educational success through United Way strategic initiatives and programs that help students and their families thrive.
  • 81,903 people accessed education supports at United Way-funded agencies, including early childhood development resources, literacy programs, after-school programs, and more.
  • 3,221 students and their families accessed All in for Youth, United Way’s collaborative that provides wrap-around supports, helping youth succeed in school and in life.
  • 1,078 students took on leadership roles with Make Your Mark, empowering kids to make a difference through United Way-funded community impact projects.

United Way’s Commitment to Reconciliation

We are all Treaty people. United Way acknowledges our connection to one another, here on Treaty 6 Territory and Métis Nation of Alberta North Saskatchewan River Territory.
