The Red Feather Society celebrates the loyalty of those who have supported United Way for more than 25 years. As a member of this honoured society, your efforts have built, and continue to build, a strong community that benefits everyone.
We have inherited and are the custodians of a proud tradition of caring and sharing in this community – a tradition that dates back many years. United Way has been active in the Capital Region for more than 80 years and working together, we have generated over $400 million that has been invested in the local human services sector.
From our humble beginnings in 1941 as the Community Chest of Greater Edmonton, the Red Feather has been our symbol for giving. That first campaign raised $102,905… a huge sum for a small city whose needs were dire during the war years.
Today, as United Way of the Alberta Capital Region, we continue to work with the community for the betterment of all its members. The red feather has been the iconic symbol for many decades. It represents courage, compassion, and generosity. The outstanding dedication and support of Red Feather members is an inspiration to how we can unite for real change in our community.
