Amanda Schutz
Emily Chu (she/they) is a Chinese illustrator and visual artist based on Treaty 6 (Edmonton). Emily’s practice includes commercial illustration, murals, storytelling, sketching, and community-arts initiatives. Some of Emily’s murals can be found at Alberta Craft Gallery and Shop, Loblaws Ice District, Fringe Theatre Arts Barns, and Millennium Place to name a few. Outside of commercial arts, Emily is the founder and lead organizer of Chinatown’s Lunar New Year event Togather Chinatown Arts Festival, and Chinatown Stories Map. She is also co-organizer of the arts fundraiser project Chinatown Greetings.
Edmonton-based artist Amanda Schutz‘s illustrations have been in campaigns, magazines, children’s books, and exhibitions across Canada and the United States. She is owner and creative director at Curio Studio and past-president of the Graphic Designers of Canada, Alberta North Chapter. In 2022, Amanda was named a Fellow of the Design Professionals of Canada (the Society’s highest honour). Recently, she has been focusing on a new design advocacy project called Canadian Women in Design. She enjoys design, art making, nature, teaching kids or adults, and collaborating with positive thinkers
