Advance your corporate social responsibility goals and strengthen your workforce through United Way’s Sponsored Campaign Representative (SCR) Program. Invest in your employees’ growth, drive meaningful impact in the community, and become part of a network of purpose-driven employers across every sector who are building a stronger, more connected Alberta Capital Region.
What if you could achieve your corporate social responsibility goals while also strengthening employee retention, leadership development, and your organization’s reputation — all at once? That’s exactly what the SCR program offers. By lending an employee, you:
Lend an employee to United Way for a 17-week term during our annual fall workplace campaign season (mid-August to late-December).
If your organization can’t spare an employee, a sponsorship gift of $16,000 makes a huge impact.
Send a strong message to employees, clients, and the community that you care about more than business. Gain recognition for your commitment through United Way’s website, social media, campaign events, and signature gatherings like the Red Tie Gala.
Elevate employee pride and morale by walking the talk on corporate responsibility. SCR sponsorship builds loyalty while developing leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills that employees bring back to your workplace.
Strengthen relationships with local organizations, civic leaders, and other purpose-driven businesses. These connections create opportunities for collaboration and amplify your impact across the Alberta Capital Region.
Enhance your reputation and appeal as an employer by investing in your people and community. Your leadership in social responsibility will help attract and retain top talent while positioning your company as a community leader.
Inspire teams, guide decisions, and drive results with confidence.
Contribute to planning, development, and delivery of workplace campaigns from start to finish.
Embrace challenges, think creatively, and pivot quickly to find solutions.
Learn to speak with clarity and confidence, tell compelling stories, and engage audiences.
PCL is proud to have supported the Sponsored Campaign Representatives program since 1993, a decision we took because we know sponsored campaign representatives are key to making change in our community. We were also very excited to support the new mentorship program that helps foster a representative’s personal and professional growth. I recommend this program to those organizations smart enough to value the development of their future leaders.

The SCR program is a fantastic growth opportunity that allows you to develop a wide range of skills, from communication and account management to relationship-building and event planning. You get an opportunity to work with diverse organizations, learn how fundraising and community engagement work, and make a real impact in your community. It’s a great way to build leadership skills, improve your problem-solving abilities, and expand your professional network.
2024 SCR Program Participant
It doesn’t matter what sector you’re in — employees from any organization can participate! SCRs come from all types of roles and career stages:
SCRs support the planning and execution of United Way workplace fundraising campaigns hosted by businesses and organizations across the Alberta Capital Region. SCRs collaborate with volunteers at various workplaces, coordinate events, deliver and facilitate presentations, provide campaign resources, track results, and ensure strong relationships with campaign stakeholders.
SCRs bring strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills to their roles. They should be comfortable managing multiple priorities, adapting to change, solving problems creatively, and using digital tools like Microsoft Office and customer relationship management software (ideally Salesforce). Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust quickly are key.
A high school diploma is required, and two to three years of experience in administration, fundraising, account management, or event planning is an asset. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
Yes. SCRs must complete a Police Information Check, hold a valid driver’s license, and have access to a vehicle. A current driver’s abstract is also required.
The program runs for 17 weeks, from mid-August to late-December, with employees returning to their workplace in January.
Training, mentorship, a personalized development plan, and day-to-day management of the SCR’s responsibilities.
You can still make an impact by sponsoring the program financially. Your $16,000 sponsorship supports the salary, benefits, and training of a hired SCR.
Your employee returns with new skills, fresh ideas, and stronger community connections. The program also strengthens employee retention, workplace culture, and your reputation as a socially responsible employer.
