United Way’s Impact Speaker Program invites community members and agency partners to share real experiences that bring both challenges — and solutions — to life. When speakers share their stories, audiences don’t just hear about issues in our community. They feel them. They understand how donors create real, local change. They see why collective action is urgent, necessary, and possible.
These stories transform United Way from an idea into something deeply human and immediate. They create connection. They build empathy. And they inspire people to step forward and be part of the solution. Because when people understand the reality facing their neighbours, they are far more likely to act.
And that’s where change begins.
As an Impact Speaker, you will share your story or agency perspective at United Way events, delivering a 5–10 minute prepared talk with support from United Way.
The time commitment is flexible, typically 3–8 hours per year depending on how many speaking opportunities you accept.
United Way provides Impact Speaker training and coaching, help crafting and refining your story, ongoing staff support, clear expectations, and event coordination. We’re here to help you feel confident, prepared, and empowered.
