Women United: Leading the charge, inspiring the change.

Our vision is for the most vulnerable girls in our city to complete high school with pride in themselves, their community and culture. This will pave the way for post-secondary and career opportunities, allowing them to reach their full potential, and live healthy and fulfilling lives.

When we empower girls, everyone benefits. Girls who are educated, healthy and supported can transform their communities and pass on the benefits to their children, and to their children’s children. This is our chance to support vulnerable teenage girls by helping them through their junior high years and on to high school completion.

Investing in girls and their families.

The funds will be invested to provide the following All in for Youth wrap-around supports for girls and their families:

  • Mentoring
  • Enhanced literacy
  • Counselling and mental health supports for children and families
  • Nutritious food programs
  • After school and day programs during school breaks
  • Parental supports including connecting families to community resources

One in five Edmonton students does not complete high school on time and for Indigenous and newcomer students, the high school dropout rate can be twice as high. The connection between high school completion and future success in life is well documented.
