Audience Engagement

Who we help

United Way takes a systems-wide approach participating in and contributing to a network of social programs and services, addressing a range of needs for vulnerable children, families, and individuals. Through our extensive network of partners, we help support robust mental health networks, establish a solid foundation for success through education, and promote financial security, ensuring that no one is left behind.

Alicia's Story

Alicia and Ace access Norwood Centre’s Parent Respite, a United Way-funded program that provides drop-in childcare and family support workers. Now, Alicia can go to school for nursing while her son gets quality early-childhood education.

Moumenah's Story

After coming to Canada as a Syrian refugee, Moumenah took part in an Empower U course at Islamic Family to better understand finances in Canada. Empower U is a United Way program that provides participants with financial literacy training and a matched savings program.

Nevaeh's Story

Nevaeh discovered a love of cooking through the United Way-funded Community Kitchen Program delivered by the Alberta Parenting for the Future Association. But she also found a place where she could thrive, in turn building her confidence and resilience.

How we help

With over 80 years of experience, United Way of the Alberta Capital Region is deeply connected to this community and its support systems. We change lives by engaging passionate changemakers, investing in effective programs and services, and working in partnership with the system of agencies to create long-term solutions. A strong and vibrant community is better equipped to respond to new and urgent needs and challenges. We are focused on two critical areas that build community resilience: strengthening mental health and creating equitable opportunities for education and financial security.
